I think it all comes down to who you ask, how you ask and who asks the question.TobsonHelsinkihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05064793414035776105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2401850518188492952.post-91672241184274750392015-03-08T13:55:31.748+02:002015-03-08T13:55:31.748+02:00I just meant people are much quicker to judge a UK...I just meant people are much quicker to judge a UK entry than most other countries, and by different standards.TobsonHelsinkihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05064793414035776105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2401850518188492952.post-26996014615753201552015-03-08T13:46:48.363+02:002015-03-08T13:46:48.363+02:00'Is there - in the entire country - not a sing...'Is there - in the entire country - not a single established, reasonably relevant performer willing to do Eurovision for them? Really?'

Actually, no. Eurovision is viewed differently in the United Kingdom. Whilst a lot of us tune in, we don't take it seriously. In fact, if a musical act goes over to Eurovision it's because they're trying to re-establish themselves as an artist or trying to start their careers. No popular act would touch it because, more often than not, it would spell the end of their career here.

Every year the 'send over Adele, One Direction, Ed Sheeran etc' comments are shouted around but they would never do it because they have a reputation to maintain, something which, from a UK perspective, Eurovision destroys.

It's just not treated with the seriousness and competitiveness that other countries treat it as. I think the issue lies with promotion. After a string of bad performances, Jade Ewen promoted her track over Europe and we came 5th but I don't think that same level of promotion has ever occurred again. We're not willing to spend the money!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2401850518188492952.post-39081754434399847922015-03-08T13:39:08.270+02:002015-03-08T13:39:08.270+02:00"Had it been the entry of Iceland or Hungary ..."Had it been the entry of Iceland or Hungary or Georgia we would all find it quite enjoyable."

I refute that totally. I don't care what country made the song, it's crap. If Iceland sent it, It would still be crap.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
